Darren’s Drains are based very close to the city centre of Norwich in Poringland, just south of the A47. We don’t claim to be near enough to walk in to the centre, but we are delighted that Daniel Farke has won the Canaries promotion after relegation last year.
Premier League status puts places on maps. And Norwich is now back in the big time.
Once Carrow Road is open to spectators, there will be a surge in traffic, footfall and tourism into Norwich.
Because it’s an isolated place, as is much of Norfolk and Suffolk, it’s great to see renewed optimism for the place. Norwich is an attractive city and when people visit, as football supporters, many, we know from chatting with customers who are football fans, are impressed by the city centre.
Who wouldn’t be?
It has two fine cathedrals, an excellent retail and restaurant scene and buildings that are steeped in history.
The football club’s promotion will bring joy to so many people across the country – not just locals, as there is proof that perseverance pays off. It would have been easy to dispense with the management following relegation but no, the board, with Delia Smith and others, stuck by Farke and how they’ve been rewarded.
So from Darren’s Drains, a huge congratulations to Norwich City FC.
