This week, one of those periodic news items appeared from London about a “fatberg” blocking drains near Canary Wharf. This build up of wet wipes, oil and fat had caused a blockage the same size as a “small bungalow” and it took many man-hours to clear.

We all know that certain things should never go down a toilet – yet some people ignore it. If enough ignore, you end up with a blockage or a “fatberg”.

Fatberg is quite a nice word in itself – it has connotations of icebergs and we all know what the damage they can wreak (or reek in drains?)

Poo, pee and paper are supposed to be the only three things to go down a toilet and if you’ve ever used a cassette toilet when camping or in a caravan, you’ll know that special degradable toilet paper is recommended there.

If you gradually deposit stuff you shouldn’t down toilets and drains, eventually the drains will block. You can flush and buy off the shelf products to clear it but this may only create a temporary solution to your blocked drains Norwich.

Blocked drains have to be firstly diagnosed to determine what the blockage is and how severe it is.
